Encuentro CI
8th Edition
December 12–19, 2026
Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco – Peru

PARTICIPATE
This is about gathering in a retreat style of meeting, for learning and practicing C.I., with classes, jams, morning practices, laboratories and journeys for dancing in nature.
We offer a sustained space to connect with our well-being through shared living. In addition, the gathering includes a closing ceremony of offering and gratitude to the Earth, led by a Q’ero master.
Our Jams are dedicated to the core of C.I. in which, through our understanding, represents the place for focusing in dancing c.i. without music or chatting.
For whom
This meeting is directed for those who are interested in the practice, with or without previous experience. We welcome anyone that is curious about movement, to be part of a space of self-knowledge through this dance practice, with a somatic and caring approach.

We offer special prices for Peruvians and people from Latin America with the purpose of encouraging local practice, taking into account the different economic realities.
Place
We will be once again in the Ashram, surrounded by our Sacred Apus.

The Ashram is located in Calca, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (Cusco, Perú) at 2900 meters above sea level. The area is close to archaeological sites, surrounded by beautiful guardian mountains and crossed by a river. We are located 10 minutes walk from the center of town.
The Ashram offers shared rooms with a maximum of 8 people. Hot showers are offered twice a day. The kitchen is organized by our team to have 3 vegetarian meals a day, but has free access for all participants. The studio is spacious, has wooden floor and an amazing roof with natural light.
The people who manage the place are very friendly and respectful.
Co-living
From the principle of mutuality, we want to retribute to the space that hosts us. There are agreements that the group must follow within the Ashram: no eating meat, no carrying or consuming alcohol, no smoking, and other specific details that will be shared during registration.

We believe that the practice of CI involves aspects beyond the studio, that the whole group should listen to and care for. We propose basic helping and cleaning tasks in which each person contributes voluntarily.
Moments of Encuentro
Organization and teaching
  • Alessandro Rivellino
Where is the intersecction of dreamland and awaken realm at this big reality called Dream?
Alessandro Rivellino? What to say? I have been living dance and contact improvisation in a surrendered way as a dancer for 18 years and as a teacher for 12 (if i do not count my childhood experiences) and I had the opportunity to travel to 25 countries, offering and having classes, intensive courses, workshops, residencies and Jams with different and experienced colleagues, which probably gave me a good "floor" to start with 'not knowing with certain quality' ...
I have also organized, with more people, different meetings and festivals of this beautiful practice, in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Denmark, Turkey and Mexico. I come from different dance schools at the somatic level and movement research, today I see that I have danced and taught a good part of my life and yet I feel that I have just started. In my practice I have been integrating various techniques and bringing the potential of dance to life. If I ask myself between my name and my body, the second one is the dearest, and if you ask about my deepest interest in dancing and teaching the answer would be around living questions related to dance itself, to the presence and to the Big Mistery.
I Hope through this illusion of you and I being separated, we can drop it, and go beyond our hanging names to explore the in-between field of existence to dance and be danced with and through the visible and invisible forces entangled at each single moment and find the way to be at the arch of beauty.
  • Carola Robles
C.I. found me 24 years ago and today I remain a sincere lover of this living and generous form, which makes me feel that I will dance all my life. C.I. is a perfect practice that invites me to be spontaneous, contemplative, playful and in a state of expansion. My axes for dancing, researching and teaching turn around its relationship with Aikido and Body-Mind Centering. I live in Cusco and I want you to come experience dance on these sacred lands.
  • Mariana de los Rios
I remember myself as a child –spinning, jumping, and rolling around, enjoying playing with my body and its varying relationships between its parts, in relation to space and gravity. I can't imagine my life with my head only facing up and my feet only on the ground. The whole body goes towards the ground! It’s from the earth! To the earth it goes! When I dove into c.i. I knew that I could also be an earth and that other bodies could also be an earth to me! How wonderful is this dance in which you can know yourself on the inside, and to be in relationship, to be able to bond, modulate, risk and trust, wait and disappear, fly and fall. I find support in dance (dancing, teaching, researching) in Feldenkrais, and also in practices of " Nature of the forces in the body and dance"; and in simple observations of clouds, cats, and stacked stones.
